I have a lot of makeup. I’m a bit of a makeup hoarder. It’s kind of a problem. But I always make sure to discard my makeup before it expires. I remember the incredulous looks I got from makeup fiends when I lamented that I have never used an entire bottle of foundation before its expiration date – two years. Truth be told, although I like makeup and have loads of it, I generally don’t wear a lot, if any, of it. I tried many different brands of foundation, but none ever stuck. So I usually end up nixing it and just spot conceal with my trusty holy grail Cle de Peau, which I’ve been using since college. That was the case until I came across the Hourglass foundation. I love it so much and have recommended it to all my friends and family. I’m positive that I won’t have a problem finishing a bottle within two years.

I also started using a Beautyblender. I was skeptical at first. I mean, could a makeup sponge really be that good? It’s just a makeup sponge, right? But it really does give you an airbrush look. Beautyblender + Houglass foundation = awesome, trust me on this.

Another thing that I’ve been using since my college days, is the ReVive cleanser. The downside? Like the Cle de Peau concealer, it’s pretty pricey. I once bought the cleanser when I was at the mall with my cousin and he literally gasp out loud at the price. But hey, it works! It really does give you the coveted ReVive glow. I need to save up and splurge on their moisturizer one of these days.

Earlier this year, while at one of my skin-gym appointments at Kate Somerville, I asked my esthetician why sometimes my skin can get flakey when I wear makeup despite the fact that it’s an oil slick sans makeup. Turns out, it’s because my oily skin is dehydrated and base makeup can really emphasis that. Armed with that knowledge, I later asked another esthetician, Shani Darden, aka Jessica Alba’s esthetician, what products she would recommend for dehydrated skin. She suggested I try is Clinical Hydra-Cool Serum. I immediately ordered it online and it did not disappoint. My skin was back to being hydrated, healthy, and happy.

If I had to pick one genre of books and movies, it would, without a doubt, be mysteries. I love me a good mystery or psychological thriller. I’ve been like this for as long as I can remember. Favorite cartoon growing up? Scooby Doo. Favorite books? Nancy Drew. Naturally, Gone Girl was right up my alley.
